The natural areas of Marine Park create valuable ecological landscape. It is part of NYC’s Forever Wild Preserve, which is protected by local law. Thinking globally and acting locally, the following groups have begun to meet regularly as a committee to be aware of each other’s work in the natural areas and to promote ecological health for the community:

- Partnerships for Parks (NYC Parks/City Parks Foundation)
- Salt Marsh Alliance
- Urban Park Rangers (NYC Parks)
In 2020, the committee created a Landscape Management Plan specifically for Marine Park in partnership with NYC Parks and provided bird collision prevention for all the windows at the Salt Marsh Nature Center.
