Dan Armstrong has been volunteering with us in the park for over five years. He loves the park and the people. Through the pandemic, you can see him on his daily walk and meditation — “in the zone,” as he describes it. I met Dan because he was great friends with my mother during her last years when they both lived on Knapp Street. My mother had a knack of attracting kind people. Dan is not only kind, but talented with a paint brush. Before he retired, painting was a part of his job, so when we have large groups of volunteers, he organizes and leads the painters. He is quick to give a new coat to lampposts, benches, fences and graffiti, and happy to teach others. Dan, the park wouldn’t be as spiffy without you — Many thanks!
